When is the Best Time to Get Married in Thailand?

One of the most frequent questions we hear from couples planning their wedding in Thailand—especially those visiting the country for the first time—is: “When is the best time to get married in Thailand?”
Of course, no one can ever guarantee perfect weather, but understanding the local seasons will help you make the best decision for your special day.

The Best Time to Get Married in Thailand

Understanding Thailand’s Wedding Seasons

Thailand has a tropical climate with three main seasons: the cool and dry season, the hot season, and the rainy season. Depending on where in Thailand you wish to marry, the ideal months can differ considerably.

Best Months for Most Destinations: November to April

For popular wedding destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak, Phi Phi Island, Koh Lanta, Koh Chang, and Koh Kood, the best time for a wedding is typically from end-November to April.
During these months, you can expect mostly sunny weather, lower humidity, and pleasant temperatures—perfect for a romantic ceremony on the beach or in a luxury villa.

However, it’s important to know that from March onward, temperatures can rise significantly. If your guest list includes elderly friends or family members who may be sensitive to heat, it’s worth considering this when choosing your date.

Rainy Season: May to October

From mid-May to the end of October, the risk of rainfall increases dramatically in these regions. While showers can be brief and tropical, it’s not uncommon to experience several consecutive days of rain. For this reason, we generally advise against planning a wedding in these areas during the rainy season if an outdoor celebration is a priority for you.

Koh Samui and Koh Phangan – The Perfect Summer Wedding Destinations

As with everything, there are exceptions! The islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan have a completely different climate compared to the rest of Thailand.
From October to the beginning of January, heavy rainfall is common, and occasional flooding can occur—especially on Koh Samui. We do not recommend planning a wedding on these islands during these months.

However, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are the absolute insider tip for couples dreaming of a summer wedding in Thailand!
The weather here is usually at its best from mid-February until mid august, with long stretches of sunshine, clear skies, and warm seas.

Important Tips for Wedding Planning in Thailand

  • Book Early: The best venues and villas are often booked out 10–12 months in advance, especially during peak season.
  • Consider Your Guests: If you have elderly guests or small children, aim for the cooler months.
  • Have a Backup Plan: Even in the dry season, short tropical showers can occur. We always recommend having a covered area or marquee available, just in case.

Our Personal Recommendation

If you are looking for classic “paradise weather” for your Thailand wedding, plan for the cool and dry season in your chosen region. For a summer wedding with all the colors of the tropics, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are unbeatable.

And no matter which time you choose: Your celebration in Thailand will be an unforgettable experience—let us help you make it truly perfect!
