A Buddhist Wedding Ceremony at Zeavola Resort, Phi Phi Island

In November 2018, we once again visited the endlessly fascinating Phi Phi Island to plan and organize a beautiful wedding at the Zeavola Resort for Sven and Constanze. On the morning of the day before the wedding, we set off from Koh Lanta by boat to arrive in time for the pre-wedding meeting with the couple and the Zeavola wedding team. The couple had chosen a traditional Buddhist wedding ceremony on the resort’s beach. Before exchanging their vows, we used the morning of the wedding day, as usual, for an initial photoshoot. Traveling by classic longtail boat, we headed to the famous Nui Bay to capture the first wedding images against this breathtaking backdrop. After a short break, we returned to Zeavola Resort in the early afternoon to accompany the couple through the final preparations.

Following Thai tradition, the bride was then picked up and led to the wedding location by her family in a colorful and lively long drum parade. Next, the groom and his male attendants were escorted to the ceremony in the same festive style. Upon arrival, the groom had to answer a series of questions to prove his intentions before the ceremony could officially begin. The ceremony continued with the groom presenting symbolic gifts to the bride’s mother, after which the Buddhist wedding ceremony commenced with three attending monks. The blessing concluded with the couple exchanging personal vows and wedding rings. This was followed by the traditional cutting of the wedding cake and a toast with champagne to celebrate the newlyweds.

In the evening, the couple hosted a beachside wedding dinner, accompanied by live music from a talented duo, completing a magical and unforgettable day.
