Photographer in Krabi – A Beach Wedding at Ao Phra Nang Beach
Once again, our work as photographers brought us to the stunning resort town of Krabi in southern Thailand. We were booked to capture a beautiful beach wedding at Ao Phra Nang Beach, a location familiar to us from numerous previous assignments, both as photographers and wedding planners. In the past, we had completed several photoshoots and even organized a wedding at the spectacular Railay Beach nearby.
Our journey began on Koh Samui, taking a ferry to the mainland at Donsak, followed by a nearly three-hour drive to Ao Nang, the bustling tourist hub of Krabi. I first visited this area more than 20 years ago and vividly remember stepping off a longtail boat onto Ao Nang Beach, surrounded by small bamboo huts and beach bars.
Upon arrival, the sounds of Hotel California, the classic Eagles hit, drifted from one of the beachside bars. While the town has changed dramatically—Ao Nang is now a bustling tourist hotspot lined with shops, restaurants, hotels, massage parlors, and even international fast-food chains—it still retains its charm.
After spending the night in Ao Nang, we traveled by longtail boat to the famous Railay Beach, where we met the lovely couple celebrating their wedding with an intimate gathering of family. We photographed them during the preparations, capturing all the little details that make a wedding truly special. Later, we headed by private longtail boat to the slightly more secluded Ao Phra Nang Beach.
Phra Nang Beach, located on the southern tip of the peninsula, is usually busy with tourists and day-trippers during peak season. By late afternoon, however, most visitors had left, leaving a serene setting perfect for enjoying the breathtaking sunset. The towering limestone cliffs typical of the region provide a stunning backdrop for a tropical beach wedding. Here, the couple exchanged their vows under the warm sun, creating unforgettable memories.
